Father of V-B student unhappy with probe

SNS, Kolkata, 29 September 2014: The father of the Visva-Bharati student who was allegedly molested on the campus, today expressed his reservations about the police inquiry into the incident and demanded a CBI probe, even as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told the media the real culprits would be punished.
The father went to the state secretariat, Nabanna, to collect Rs 1 lakh from the Chief Minister's Office for the treatment of his daughter. Miss Banerjee, however, said the police were thoroughly investigating the matter and said the guilty would be brought to book. The victim's father said he wanted to inform the chief minister of the tardy progress of the police, but couldn't as he failed to meet her. “I have spent Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of my daughter, who is still traumatised. Doctors have told me she has developed a suicidal tendency following the incident," he said.
The chief minister claimed that police were properly investigating the custodial death in Purulia and that the government won't tolerate any “hanky panky” in the probe. The state government has also paid Rs 2 lakh to the family members of the victim.
