EOI, MALBAZAR, 8 Sep 2014: Usage of earphones in public places such as railway tracks and roads continue to invite tragedy.
A 22-year-old youth identified as Indra Kumar Rasaily was today hit fatally by a speeding train while he was crossing the tracks near Chanda Company at Bagrakot in the Dooars listening to music on his earphones.
According to one of Rasaily’s family members, he had stepped out from home along with his mobile and earphones for a stroll after taking dinner and never came back.
The Bagrakot GRP found his lifeless body lying on the railway tracks with the earphones still plugged into his ears early in the morning.
“The music may have subdued all sounds of the approaching train to result in the tragedy,” said a police official.
