Shamar Rinpoche body reaches Kalimpong

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 1 July 2014: The mortal remains (Kudung)of the 14th Gyalwa Shamar Rinpoche, was brought to Kalimpong today from Karmapa International Buddhist Institute, Delhi amidst tight security.
The Buddhist monk had died of a cardiac arrest in Germany on 11th June 2014 at the age of 62 years and his body was brought back to India on 20th June. Body of the Shamar Rinpoche will be kept at the Shri Diwakar Vihara Buddhist Research and Educational Institute in 11 Mile Kalimpong. This institute by the name Baju Ratna Kothi was established by Mipham Chokyi Lodro,the Shamarpa Rinpoche in 1974 and he had visited Kalimpong for the last time in 2013.
His mortal remains was brought from Bagdogra to Kalimpong accompanied by the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, one of the two claimant monks from Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and large number devotees.
A week long ‘Vajrayogini puja’ will be organised, followed by the ‘Chakrasamvara’ ritual. During this time his followers and disciples from different places will be allowed to pay their homage to him.
The body of the Rinpoche will be taken to Kathmandu for his final journey to Nepal on 14th July, 2014, Karmapa Thaye Dorje will be accompanying Kudung of Rinpoche on the final journey to Shar Minub Monastery the main seat of Shamar Rinpoche, which will be the final resting place for his Kudung. While in Shar Minub Monastery, until the final rites are concluded, Red Avalokeshvara and subsequently Hevajra practice as offerings to the Kudung will be conducted, stated late Shamarpa's official site.
On 31st July, 2014 cremation ceremony of the Shamar Rinpoche will be held in Nepal led by Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje along with the assembly of disciples from all over the world.
