Gotze - is da Man!!

Paul Rai, KalimNews, 15 July 2014: It’s a forth World Cup victory for Germany, although good soccer by Argentina. For quite some time I’ve been studying the evolution of global financial system. Many a times I stumbled upon Germany, not to mention Austria, in the makeover of Europe and eventually the European Union. The exemplary balance stricken by Germany in terms of power and commerce in the series of wars and peace is spectacular. It was in the year 1871 when Otto Von Bismarch created the German Empire out of neighbouring princely states, who were under disagreements of sorts for years. The same nation showcased hegemony over their favourite sport football in the semi-final and the final of WC 2014. Germany has been the most disciplined and team oriented nation throughout the history. The whole world saw their team spirit and systematic football, however, there is no doubt - Argentina too was one of the best team in this world cup.

Through the accounts of soldiers who fought the great wars against Germans - we can ascertain that they were the best in the battlefield. With few weakest allies Germany (or Germany alone) had withstood almost the entire world during WWI and II. Strategically – no one relies on the help of feeble team to win or resist the strong enemies. However, Germans never gave up, rather emerged with profound skills and talents and created a formidable force to resist the then superpowers. With its defeat in two wars, Germany again came up as a brand in ‘peace’ from industries to automobiles – from quality to space science. World’s most eminent scientists, bankers, musicians etc are from Germany. Its commercial affairs are far better than rest of the world. Simply their taste for quality is awesome – to mention few of them would be Mercedes, VW and BMW. Their supermarkets are giving a cutthroat competition to all the world’s big bazaars, still they are economic and the best. They are more a systematic nation. When we peep through the pages of history we know that they can afford anything – and in recent years they even afford to pay for Greeks and Spanish for their  expenses – (may be) out of generosity. Much of the credit for the development goes to every citizen and at the moment Angela Merkel who apparently is a key figure of the EU.

Indeed, if you want to do some serious stuff you need to do the German way. The soldiers who fought against them would definitely say of their courage and skill. Because of their supreme disciplined nature, they’ve build up a high level of confidence and precision. If German class is scheduled at 4 p.m. – it’s exactly 16:00hrs - not a minute early or beyond, and this culture is prevailing in Germany for decades. From the warfront someone said of Germans this way: “Unfortunately, we are fighting the best soldiers in the world.” The other said: “These Germans have earned for themselves a good character. They are steady, regular, not so much given to drink as others. Very much superior to their counterparts who may apply for the same post. They are better educated, more respectful and in other word “do not give themselves airs”. I’m reminded of the song “Mauri ghumuio rasaile....” – and the stories of our ancestors who fought against such formidable power. May be it was our talent and fate that we too were counted worthy among these formidable ones, as most disciplined and fearsome soldiers of the world, “the Gorkhas” (soldiers).

It was imminent that once again they had to prove supremacy over football, regardless to mention their victories in Wimbledon and F1. Germany has become the first European nation to beat any South American team in their own soil, and the players have fulfilled their professional achievement. I doubt they’ll ever learn to play cricket..... OR suitable scenario would be – the day China learns to play commercial cricket than it’s not too far that we would remain only as a facilitator for the sake of hosting the event as it happened with Brazil this time.  The worst part of our system is that the minister concerned gets into financial propaganda before the conclusion of any international event. As a cover up we talk about our heritage – cultural ethos and try living in the past glory. The world is heading for colonising Moon and Mars (a concept) yet we are talking about something that existed thousands of years back. We profess (rather boast): that we already had an advance way of living - reciting some scientific reason for some obsolete practise, not knowing we live in 21^st century where technology supersedes everyday life. In no way it means that we should disrespect our culture but we need to go ahead with time.  Are we going to the future or the past? This question hits back hard when we get to hear that mobile phones should be banned in schools and colleges at national levels. What kind of system are we trying to build around.....? I feel we have everything to go shoulder to shoulder with any nation – but only thing matters is the mentality shift in our cultural/political set ups. Otherwise our freedom will have no meaning ... and we constantly allow the overseers of the society to forfeit it with their terms.
