GNLF Kurseong unit committee officially announced

EOI, KURSEONG, 6 Jul 2014: The Gorkha National Liberation Front is not only increasing its political activities in the hills, but is also busy accelerating its activities to strengthen its grass root organization. Following the same trend today, the GNLF Kurseong unit held its branch meeting at Gorkha Jan Pustakalay in the town.
The unit spokesperson Daya Dewan informed the GNLF Kurseong branch committee comprising of 21 members, which was approved and formed on July 3 by the party president Subash Ghisingh, was officially announced in today’s meeting. As many as eight senior active GNLF leaders have also been selected and added as official members of the Kurseong committee.
Dewan claimed the recently approved Kurseong unit committee is the first unit committee of the GNLF party in the hills that was formed along with the seven other Samasthis. He said under the guidance of the respective conveners, the party has also been working at all the three hill sub divisions. However, Kurseong is the first unit that was formed and approved by the central committee.
Former GNLF Kurseong branch convenor Nima Lama was elected as the president of the newly formed unit committee.
Dewan further added as per the party senior leadership, the party will soon form unit committees for all the other units in the gills. Besides strengthening of the organization, the party’s political strategies were also discussed in today’s meeting, he added.
Notably, before the advent of the GJM, there were unit committees of the GNLF at the three hill sub divisions but following the rise of the GJM the identity of the GNLF waned drastically. But amidst such extreme situation, the GNLF has been showing its presence in Kurseong, despite a much smaller numbers currently.
