One dies, 20 cases in Siliguri

SNS, SILIGURI, 3 JULY 2020: A 23-year old resident of Bhaktinagar area in Siliguri died in the respiratory intensive care unit ofthe North Bengal Medical College and Hospital here today. NBMCH sources said he had tested-positive for Covid- 19.
On the other hand, around 20 fresh Covid-19 cases have been found in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) area in the last 24 hours. Among them, Ward 4 has recorded six cases, four have been traced in Ward 9, and three in Ward 14.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the board of administrators (BoA) of the SMC, Asok Bhattatharya, who is undergoing treatment in a private health facility at Matigara, is learnt to be "clinically stable" and that he was today shifted to a cabin from the ICU after he tested negative for Covid-19 for the first time after being admitted in the hospital late last month. He had earlier tested positive for the virus.
Debate over Covid-19 meeting
As the officer on special duty of the health and family welfare department of north Bengal, Dr Susanta Kumar Roy, prepares to hold a meeting on the Covid-19 situation at Uttarkanya in Siliguri tomorrow, a member of the BoA, SMC, Sankar Ghosh, raised questions on its intentions.
Mr Ghosh said none of the BoA members were invited to the meeting when the civic body had also been playing a crucial role in fighting the pandemic.
31 fresh cases in Malda
In Malda, another 31 fresh cases were detected last night, which took the number of total affected to mom than 700 now. The fresh cases are from English Bazaar (15), Ratua-II (8), Harishchandrapur (3), Old Malda (2) and one each from the NBMCH, Chanchal-I and Ratua -I.
No new case in Alipurduar
In Alipurduar, no new Covid case was reported today. A total of 190 cases have so far been found in the district.
