60-yr-old raped in Dalsinghpara.... Bhutan-registered car seized in Jaigaon

EOI, KALCHINI,4 Jul 2014: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped in Dalsinghpara Wednesday afternoon. 

Savitri Oraon (name changed) had gone to her field to pick vegetables when a 23-year-old youth named Zakir Hussain, who was drunk, took advantage of the situation and allegedly raped her. 

When word of this dastardly act spread, Dalsinghpara residents informed the Jaigaon police and the accused was arrested from his home later in the evening. 

Hussain was presented at the Alipurduar court Thursday morning and sent to police remand. Police sources said the culprit took advantage of the victim as she is deaf and dumb. 

Bhutan-registered car seized in Jaigaon 

EOI, KALCHINI,4 Jul 2014: The Jaigaon police today seized a car bearing a Bhutan number (BP/C-2545) after residents of Daragaon customs check-post informed them. According to the police, some locals found the car abandoned in the area and when they took a closer look, they found another registration number plate on it (BP/B-4171). When the Jaigaon police contacted their Bhutanese counterparts, it was learnt the car had been stolen from Thimpu. Jaigaon police station OC RL Bhutia said the drive to net car thieves from the region has been ramped up.
