People of India are my God, I have no Shame in Seeking their Blessings: Modi in Bihar

ModiTIR,7 May 2014, Bettiah, Bihar: Narendra Modi the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s prime ministerial candidate while addressing a rally in Bettiah in Bihar mocked Sonia Gandhi’s accusations that Modi keeps asking for something or the other from the people.
Modi said, “..Recently soniaji quoted me saying Yeh Dil Maange More! Perhaps she felt bad with this.”
Modi hit back at the Congress for looting the country and said, “Dear friends, what will a poor man do! He will always ask for something instead of looting it. Friends, for me the people of India are the incarnations of God. The citizens of my India are my god only, so where else will I go to seek for blessings! I have no shame in seeking for blessings from my god, from my people!” said Modi.
Modi further hit out at the Congress party saying, “Friends, you tell me, what is bad? Asking for something or Snatching it away? I am ready to ask for things but not snatch it away.”
In the last few days left for the election campaigning, the front-runner for the prime ministerial race, Narendra Modi and his supporters are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters. Today it is Bihar where Modi is making all attempts to set the BJP’s foot in.
Narendra Modi began his speech at the public meeting with the slogan, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” He saluted the spirit of the people to stand in the scorching sun just to listen to him.
Modi also appreciated the spirit of democracy among Indians saying that a person like him receiving so much love and affection is the true pride of India’s democracy.
Modi assured the people that he won’t let their sacrifice and penance go waste and instead return it in kind in the form of development.
Narendra Modi quoted Pandit Nehru’s words while he visited Bettiah in 1960s saying, “Pandit Nehru said that Bettiah will be India’s 5th largest metro city. But what happened? His daughter, daughter’s son and since 10 years mother-son of their family – all have ruled the country! Did Bettiah become a Metro city?”
Modi hit out at the Congress party and the Nehru’s descendants saying, “What kind of children are these who can’t fulfill wishes of their father. Those who don’t respect Pandit Nehru, how can they respect the people of this country? Forget that I criticise the lack of development or the other politicians saying about it; but at least listen to your forefathers! Tell me friends, can we trust such people?”
Modi said that the country has been robbed off many a time. But now no more!
Narendra Modi also criticised the 60 years of Congress rule in India saying, “These people think that the country or the people of a country are in their pockets and can be taken for granted. It’s funny that their political arrogance has been crushed by a poor chaiwala.”
“Dear friends, it is not Modi who deserves all the credit, it is you who have shown trust in me that I was able to fulfill responsibilities I was entrusted with,” added Modi.
Modi raked up the Adarsh Society Scam, while criticising the congress to deprive the widows of the Kargil martyrs of a house, to say the least. He also mentioned about the CWG scam and the issue of black money, calling it Neech Rajniti and Neech Karm.
Modi clarified that he is not fighting the elections for power, rather, his fight is against this neech rajniti and the neech karm that has gripped the country only because of the Congress party.
“I hail from the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. I have come to the land of Jai Prakash Narayan,” said Modi assuring the people that his motto is only development.
Narendra Modi also mentioned about the miserable plight of the sugarcane farmers in Bihar. Comparing it with the plight of sugarcane farmers in certain districts of Gujarat, Modi said that the sugar factories in these districts are owned by the farmers and therefore the manufacturing and sale takes place at the right time, which yields good profit that is distributed among the farmers.
Modi said, “Can’t this happen in Bihar? It can definitely happen, but they (Congress) will have to abate their low-level politics for this.”
While speaking of the farmers, Narendra Modi also mentioned about the BJP manifesto proposing to change the method of deciding the minimum support price. Modi assured that the farmers will be the one to decide the minimum support price instead of the Babus.
“Agar kisan nahin bachega toh desh nahin bachega! meaning, if the farmers won’t survive, the country wont be able to sustain,” said Modi, highlighting the importance of farmers.
In the end, Modi urged the people to go out and vote in big numbers and elect a stable and strong government at the centre. While he said this, the crowds cheered for him saying, “Modi..Modi”
