Change in Madhyamik pattern
TT, Calcutta, May 20: Madhyamik will have more short answer and multiple choice questions (MCQs) and students will be awarded full marks even in language papers like English and Bengali if they deserve.
The syllabus reforms committee of the state government has given these proposals to the state secondary board, which accepted the suggestions today.
The changes will be introduced from the 2015-16 academic session.
“Students who will appear in the Madhyamik examinations in 2017 will be first batch to be tested on the new exam system,” said board administrator Kalyanmoy Ganguly.
According to the board’s decision, there will be 40 per cent multiple choice and one-mark questions in every subject in Madhyamik.
In another proposal, the syllabus committee has suggested allotting 10 percent marks on internal assessments of students in all the subjects in which has also been accepted by the board today.
Students’ attendance will be considered as one of the criterions in the internal assessment.
The 10 mark internal assessment will replace the existing oral tests which carries the same number of marks.
