Student found hanging inside college hostel room
EOI, Jalpaiguri, 5 Apr 2014: A student was found hanging this morning at the hostel of St Xavier’s College at Rajganj in Jalpaiguri district. The deceased, identified as Prabin Koirala, was a science student in the second year. A suicide note has been found in the room. The Rajganj police have retrieved the body and sent it to Jalpaiguri Sadar hospital for a post-mortem.
College sources said Koirala was not found in his room since early morning and his hostel-mates were looking for him when they found an adjoining room locked from the inside. This led to suspicion and they broke into the room to find Koirala hanging.
College principal Cherian Padia said Koirala was very much depressed since the last few days and did not even take dinner last night. In the suicide note, he has apologised to his parents for what he has done.
The police have filed a case of unnatural death and started a probe to ascertain whether it is a case of suicide.
