SNS, Gangtok, 1 April: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) candidate for the Gyalshing Burmeyk constituency, Sher Bahadur Subedi, was today arrested by the Geyzing police for trespassing and misbehaviour.
“An FIR was registered against him at the Geyzing police station by Dal Bahadur Poudyal of 6th Mile, Middle Gyalshing, for trespassing, criminal intimidation and simple hurt, following which we arrested him around 10 am today,” Superintendent of Police West, DB Giri, said. Mr Subedi was, however, released on bail later.
Mr Subedi allegedly trespassed into the house of a SKM supporter on Monday night and misbehaved with his family, while he also allegedly forced them to remove the SKM flag from their housetop. Former minister, Mr Subedi, is contesting the assembly polls from the Geyzing Burmeyk constituency in West Sikkim, where he is scheduled to battle it out with SKM’s Lok Nath Sharma.
