4 killed in road accident
Ujjal Bhattacharyya, EOI, Siliguri, 9 April 2014: Four people including two women and a teenage boy of the same family were killed in a road accident at Sevoke Road near Siliguri today. The family was returning back to Siliguri after offering prayers at a temple when the car skidded off the road and fell downhill into River Teesta. The accident occurred around 2 pm this afternoon.
Local residents rushed to the spot after they heard a huge noise of the car falling off the cliff. Later, the Sevoke police outpost personnel accompanied by a company of fire brigade officials reached the spot. The members of the local rafting committee also assisted in the rescue operation which continued for hours. Sources said all the bodies have been recovered.
The victims were the resident of Sakarpara area in the Second Mile region of Siliguri. The deceased have been identified as Bimala Goyal (67), Naresh Goyal (44), Kusum Goyal (42) and Deepak Goyal (16).
