CPM seeks Ghisingh support for ‘Darj mission’
SNS, Siliguri, 19 March: The Darjeeling district CPI-M has sought support from Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) chief Subash Ghisingh for its Darjeeling Lok Sabha candidate Saman Pathak.
“We earnestly seek your support in this Lok Sabha election and in the coming days so that we can go ahead with our common mission in unison,” the Darjeeling district CPI-M acting secretary, Jibesh Sarkar, has said in a letter addressed to Mr Ghising dated 16 March.
Mr Sarkar has also pointed out that they have adopted an important resolution on the ‘Darjeeling Hill Area specific Charter’ in which the CPI-M has demanded an ‘effective Regional Autonomous Council’ to be set up for the Darjeeling Hills and which it says should be incorporated in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India as enshrined in Article 244.
“The demand for the Sixth Schedule is our prime issue in the Darjeeling LS poll campaigns for the Darjeeling seat where our party has nominated Saman Pathak, the son of former MP and veteran leader Ananda Pathak,” Mr Sarkar has said in the letter.
