
Animesh AL Rai receives Gold Medal
PR, KalimNews, Darjeeling: During the 2nd convocation of Sikkim University Animesh A.L.Rai received the Gold Medal from Sikkim University. He was conferred with the Gold Medal for securing 76.25%, in 2010 batch of M.A in Sociology by Prof.Mrinal Miri in the presence of His Excellency Shri Shriniwas Patil,Governor of Sikkim, Justice Madam Ruma Pal, Chancellor of Sikkim University and Prof. T.B Subba, Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University at Manan Kendra, Gangtok, Sikkim.
Rai is son of Mr. Rabindra P. Lulam Rai and Kusum Rai and hails from Darjeeling. He completed is ICSE from Vidya Vikash Academy, Darjeeling in 2002 and ISC from St. Joseph's School North Point School, Darjeeling and secured star marks in Sociology and Political Science (92 and 90 marks out of 100 marks respectively).
Later he graduated in Sociology with Honours from St. Xavier's College under Calcutta University. At present he is persuing his PhD in the Department of Sociology, Sikkim University and also working in the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
In 2010, he was sent to Hiroshima University, Japan as a Special auditing Student from Sikkim University for 6 months training on
Global Youth Leadership Training Programme on Climate Change and Low Carbon Society and worked under Prof. K.L Maharjan in the Faculty of International Development and Environment Co-operation. In 2013, after completing his M.Phil from SU, he worked as a guest faculty in the Department of Sociology, Sikkim University.
At present he is also a Co-ordinator of Scottish Twinning project for Church of North India, Chongtong Pastorate and also a
Member of the Managing Committee of Reuben Memorial School located in Chongtong. He is also working in the publication of
M.Phil Dissertation titled "An Exploratory Study on the Relation between Out Migration and Social Movement with reference to Gorkhaland Movement".
