KLO guns sent to police custody
SNS, Siliguri, 17 February 2014: Two KLO militants, Tom Adhikary alias Joydev Roy, 42 and Manchalal Singha, 41 alias Nilambar Rajbanshi aka Doctor, who were arrested from Lichubagan in Siliguri yesterday, were produced at the Jalpaiguri court today amid tight security.
Police arrested another person identified as Sanjit Roy from Tufanganj in Cooch Behar today in connection with the Bajra Para bomb explosion case in Jalpaiguri. He was produced in the court too today.
The chief judicial magistrate, Mr S Datta, remanded all the trio in 14-day police custody. The explosions on 26 December last year killed six persons.
The CID has framed charges against them under Section 302, 307, 326 and 120B of the IPC, and 3/4 Explosive Substances Act. The Assistant Public Prosecutor, Mr Santa Chatterjee, said police have framed additional charges under Section 121, 121A, 122, 123, 124 of the Indian Penal Code for waging a war against the state.
According to her, nine persons, including KLO militants and linkmen, have been arrested so far in connection with the Bajra Para blast.
Meanwhile, Tom Adhikary today told reporters at Jalpaiguri court that his outfit is for unconditional dialogue with both the Centre and the state government over their demands for a separate Kamtapur state and recognition of the Kamtapuri language. "We want to talk unconditionally," he said, adding that he was not involved in Bajra Para bomb blast.
However, Adhikary's confidante, Menoka Roy, said Nepal police had intercepted Tom and Manchalal and that they had released them on Friday.
“The West Bengal police had slapped false charges on them," she said. "We were betrayed by Nepal police," she added.
