Mamata to inaugurate mini-secretariat on 20 Jan

SNS, Siliguri, 5 January 2013: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the mini-secretariat, which is under construction at Fulbari, close to Dabgram Industrial Growth Centre, in Jalpaiguri on 20 January, north Bengal development minister Gautam Deb said today.
Mr Deb and his departmental secretary Mr Manoj Agarwal and other officials visited the construction site today and asked contractors to finish jobs of the main building by 20 January, particularly the floor of the chief minister’s chamber and related assembly room for its inauguration.
The minister also asked authorities concerned to construct a podium, where the chief minister would address the special guests after inauguration, within the premises of the mini-secretariat. A total of 25 state ministers and their departmental officials would be coming to witness the inauguration of mini Writers’ Buildings, which is to be named Uttarkanya for the development of north Bengal keeping in touch with Nabanna in Howrah.
Besides, top officials associated with the chief minister, including chief secretary and home secretary, would be coming.
People’s representatives even from level of three-tier panchayats would be invited to witness the ‘historical’ inauguration of mini secretariat, Mr Deb claimed.
According to Mr Deb, the chief minister would inaugurate the mini-secretariat around 2 p.m. on 20 January and then she would inaugurate north Bengal festival at Kanchenjungha stadium in Siliguri.
Sources said the CM would be coming in February to start functioning of north Bengal secretariat. In the mean time, other necessary works would be completed.
A total of 6.67 acre lands were earmarked. Later, nearly 4 acres adjoining lands have been earmarked for the construction of CM’s bungalow and other purposes.
