Deb holds meet regarding security during CM’s visit
SNS, Siliguri, 16 January 2014: Amid KLO’s threat to continue subversive activities, the north Bengal development minister Mr Gautam Deb today held a meeting with the Siliguri police commissioner Mr Jag Mohan and Jalpaiguri district magistrate Ms Pritha Sarkar for tightening security ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit to Siliguri on 20 January.
Mr Deb and Mr Mohan today visited the venue within the mini-secretariat premises where chief minister Miss Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate her dream project and address audience to mark the inauguration ceremony. Mr Deb held a meeting with Mr Mohan and Ms Sarkar at NHPC Bhawan, close to the mini-secretariat, today.
After the end of the meeting, Mr Mohan said: “The meeting was held for the chief minister’s visit and proper arrangement for her two official programmes in Siliguri. We discussed about the inauguration of the mini-secretariat at Kamrangaguri and inauguration of the north Bengal festival at Kanchenjungha stadium in Siliguri town.” “I do not have the CM’s detailed schedule in the Hills. I have come to know the CM would leave for Mirik after attending two programmes in Siliguri on 20 January,” said Mr Mohan. Sources said Miss Banerjee would stay in the Hills till 23 January and leave for Kolkata on 24 January. The Jalpaiguri district magistrate, Ms Pritha Sarkar, refused to comment on security arrangements for the chief minister’s programme at a time when the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation has called a 24-hour strike on 17 January.
