Pritam Chettri gains patent rights over his invention

EOI, Kalchini,17 December 2013: The Government of India has granted patent rights for the safety devise for cooking gas named ‘Safety Valve for Cooking Gas’, to Dooars based inventor Pritam Chettri. 
Notably, the device was invented by Pritam Chettri last year. He was also honoured with Innovation Award for School Children in 2012 few months ago along with five other winners by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. 
Pleased with the grant of patent, Chettri, who was born in a peasant family in Chokabari Busty of Madarihat, opined he could either himself establish a factory or the government can pay him royalty for the production and marketing of the safety device. 
Chettri said he has already sent a letter to North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb seeking assistance from the state government on the issue of production of the safety valve, but he has not yet received a response from the Minister. 
Meanwhile, speaking to this correspondent, Lahiri Bose, President of Dooars Terai Nagarik Mancha, said Pritam Chettri has made the Dooars proud by inventing such a device and winning the prestigious award. 
He said the organization will persuade the organizers of the Dooars Utsav to facilitate Chettri during the function that will be held in February at Alipurduar. 
Bose added the organization will also make efforts to financially support Chettri and will also submit a petition to the administration for the same. It can be mentioned Chettri is currently a first year B.Sc student in Alipurduar college.
