Lama for transforming, not just changing Darjeeling

SNS, Kurseong, 3 November 2013:The trend of campaigning and convincing the public to obtain their votes in the coming Lok Sabha election is going on at different places in the Hills and the plains by the noted academic, Dr Mahendra P Lama, under the banner of the Darjeeling Dooars United Development Foundation (DDUDF). 

Meanwhile, yesterday, a programme was organised by the DDUDF at a school hall in Kurseong, in which, the speakers called for public mandate in the coming MP election in favour of Dr Lama. 

Dr Lama emphasised that statehood status for Darjeeling and the Dooars taking all ethnicities under its wing regardless of any particular group would be his main priority and which so far no one has been able to reach it to its right destination. 

The public mandate for the MP election is hence needed so that the statehood aspiration is given its rightful due and which must be achieved. 

Besides the aspiration of statehood, there are immense development issues which can itself be implemented here being an MP. 

For all these things to be brought to its end and which would be a beginning in itself, public mandate for him is important so that if given a chance, progress and prosperity will be brought here for the benefit of the people of Darjeeling Hills and the Dooars. 

He further said that Darjeeling does not need change but it needs transformation for which all must think broad mindedly.
