Jailed GTA members to be released soon

SNS, Kurseong, 19 November 2013: All the arrested and jailed GTA members are likely to be released, soon.
Tomorrow, an important bipartite meeting is going to be held at Kolkata between the state government and the ruling GJMM party of Darjeeling hills, in which, several issues of the GTA will be discussed, including the matters of the arrested and jailed GTA members and its activists.
As per GJMM sources, when the CM had visited Darjeeling recently, emphasis had been mainly given on the release of its members from the different jails by its delegates.
Later, even the GJMM delegates while visiting Kolkata had hobnobbed with the State Home secretary and ministers on the immediate release of its jailed GTA members.
It was learnt that assurances had been given by the State representatives that all those arrested would be released as soon as possible.
It has also been learnt that even while almost all the GJMM activists have been released, the jailed GTA members who mostly make up from Kurseong Constituency are still languishing in jails.
Hence, in tomorrow’s important bipartite meeting between the State and the GTA representatives, the release of the jailed members would be central to the several negotiations that would be placed in the table.
The GJMM chief, Mr Bimal Gurung, has already confirmed on this matter while addressing a meeting in Kalimpong recently. However, the matter is sub judice, but those arrested made on various charges during the second phase of the Gorkhaland agitation was done by the State police administration who may not pursue it.
Since their release is in the hands of the State and the police administration, they may release the jailed GTA members after coming together and negotiating amicably during the bipartite talks in Kolkata.
Besides, it is already mentioned in their signed and agreed pact that all court cases except murder relating to all GJMM activists during the political movement of Gorkhaland would be waived which would also press the State and its administration for immediate release of those arrested and jailed in the recent Gorkhaland agitation.
