Ghising cautions party men against speaking on Hill scenario
SNS, Siliguri, 19 November 2-1: Asking for circumspection in the aftermath of the ruling Trinamul Congress and GJMM ~ sparring for months in post-Telangana concession period ~ having thrashed a tacit understanding in the Darjeeling Hills, the GNLF supremo, Mr Subash Ghising is understood to have cautioned his party men against speaking frivolously on the current drift of the Hill scenario.
Mr Ghising is said to have sounded annoyed with his party leaders talking flippantly during and after the chief minister, Miss Mamata Banerjee’s Hill trip.
Recently, some GNLF satraps spoke to the media when the leader was in Chennai for medical check-ups.
Mr Ghising is supposed to have taken a critical note of them speaking of his impending visit to Darjeeling to address political meetings. “The leader feels, time is not yet ripe for the party to go for the kill. He is for more patience, as the situation is drifting towards the state he visualised long back. Any flippancy in words and actions on our part might accentuate distemper to the detriment of the party’s long-term interests,” a senior GNLF leader from Darjeeling said.
Asked to comment on Mr Ghising’s much-trumpeted plan to visit Darjeeling to take on the GJMM, Mr Mahendra Chhetri who had recently switched over to the GNLF from the CPI-M, said: “I would not speak to the Press. There is no important information to part with. If Mr Ghising decides to come to Darjeeling, the Press would be informed beforehand.
