Gurung appears in Kalimpong court
SNS, 8 November 2013: The GJMM chief, Mr Bimal Gurung, today appeared before the Kalimpong court in two cases filed against him pertaining to incidents after the Sibhsu incident.
In one of the cases he gave an appearance, and in another where the charge-sheet has already been filed he appeared for the hearing before the ACJM Court.
Mr Rajiv Parajuli the lawyer of Mr Gurung today told that the next hearing is scheduled on 10 December. Mr Gurung has denied the charges framed upon him and has decided to contest the case, informed Mr Parajuli.
He said the case on which Mr Gurung made an appearance is from NH 31(A). All the cases were suo moto which were filed by police in the year 2011.
Although, Mr Gurung who has been granted bail in all the cases earlier today, appeared to listen to the charges, informed Mr Parajuli.
ENS, Darjeeling: Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung was Friday acquitted in three cases in connection with blocking of National Highway-31A by GJM activists in 2011.
Gurung, who appeared before a Kalimpong court was acquitted in the three cases for which police had filed chargesheet. He was however also charged for instigating people against it in Sipchu area of Kalimpong, which resulted in violence and death of two persons, would have to reappear before the court on December 10 in connection with five other cases pending against him. The cases also included torching of a government bungalow in Sipchu.
