GJMM leader’s wife joins TMC
SNS, Kurseong, 8 November : The trend of joining the Trinamul Congress from other parties, including the GJMM, continues unabated in Kurseong sub-division despite Bimal Gurung’s party leaving no stone unturned to keep the ruling party in good humour, even risking a possible backlash.
The GJMM has received a body blow as the wife of an important leader from the region joined the ruling party.
Besides, over 150 families from different areas mostly under the Kurseong Assembly constituency have joined, taking TMC flags from its Hill convenor, Rajen Mukhia in Kurseong today.
However, today’s prized catch is the former cashier of the sub-divisional branch of the GJMM’s women wing, Lily Lepcha (Lama).
Talking to reporters, she said she was one of the founder-members of the Naari Morcha, the women affiliate of the party.
The Hill TMC general secretary, Mr NB Khawas said 21 families from Chaiteypaani, 35 from Goethals Siding and around 100 from Teesta Valley region have joined his party.
