But there are some leaders for whom elections but mean win — they have been winning elections since 1991, without facing defeat, and have won the second Constituent Assembly polls as well.
Nepali Congress leaders Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ramchandra Paudel have won all the elections — 1991, 1994, 1999, 2008 (CA), and 2013 (second CA).
Former prime minister Deuba has been contesting from his home district Dadeldhura while Paudel from Tanahun-2 in all the elections held after the restoration of democracy.
Deuba has emerged victorious from Kailali-6 as well.
In 2008 also, Deuba had won from two constituencies. Paudel though was said to be facing a tough time managed to maintain his winning streak in his constituency.
Yet another leader who has never faced a defeat is Narayanman Bijukchhe of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party. Bhaktapur-1 is Bijukchhe bastion and no one has been able to wrest control from him here.
Chairman of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic Bijay Kumar Gachhadar too has won all elections since 1991.
Gachhadar, who was fighting from two constituencies this time, managed to win from Sunsari-3 but lost from Morang-7
Elections this time did not suit Tarai Madhes Democratic Party leader Hridayesh Tripathi.
His winning streak has been halted this time. Tripathi, who had been winning all the elections till 2008, has been defeated by NC’s Devkaran Kalawar this time in Nawalparasi-6.
