2 Nepalese journos on world tour
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 16 November 2013: With a motto "let us know ourselves, understand one's nation and awaken the world" two journos on world tour arrived in Kalimpong.
Narayan Prasad Bhattari President and Nav Raj Bhattarai General Secretary of Enlighten the world Campaign (Viswa bhraman Abhiyan) of Nepal, started their world tour on 28th October 2008 on foot and in vehicles.
The Bhattarais of Bhojpur started their tour from Dingla of Bhojpur district in Nepal and completed it in 730 days. They also have published a travelogue "Nepal Bhramanka 730 din" and a documentary "Nepal Darshan (Visit Nepal)".Earlier they use to publish Manokranti a weekly newspaper and are now freelancers.
Speaking to KalimNews while visiting the the office of Kalimpong Press Club the Bhattarai duo stated that starting from 22 July 2013 they have visited all the eight states of North east India including Sikkim.
They have also visited some parts of Bhutan and Tamu of Myanmar. After that they have visited Jaigaon,Banarhat, Siliguri, Kurseong,Darjeeling and are now in Kalimpong. Now they head to Kolkata via Siliguri.
They have planned to complete the visit of India by 2014.
Inspired by the great travellers like Christopher Columbus they started their world tour with help from different organsations like Gair Avashiya Nepali Sangh and interested persons.
Bhattarais are 30 years old and bachelors.
They stated that in the two-year period of our practising journalism, we saw that violations of press freedom were increasing day by day and news materials that flow positive message were not falling on the priority of the mass media. We saw that from the worldwide concept of journalism that 'bad news is good news'; we saw the possibility that it would scuttle positive thinking, peace, humanity and world brotherhood. In the same time, news came in mass media that the former president of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam started positive journalism being a journalist, which strengthened our outlook. In this way, we nurtured in our heart that we should know the country and the world through press freedom and positive journalism, and this message, courage and confidence should be disseminated to all. From this, we thought that the thinking of visiting while studying in primary and secondary level could be materialised. That day was June 16, 2008.
