Show cause notice received by employees

Kalimpong, KalimNews, 11 September 2013: State government employees under the district administration and other employees under GTA received show cause notices issued by their respective officers. Even staff of offices located in far flung areas also received the these notices.
Those who received notices issued earlier have already replied to their respective authorities. A source says that the authorities have found the replies unsatisfactory and they are being informed of the same.
Meanwhile staff of different department under GTA also received similar notices issued by the GTA and forwarded by their respective DDOs and authorities.
Teachers and staff under primary and secondary education department (DIs), primary school board, different government high schools, PTTI, and Kalimpong Science Centre also were issued a notice dated 9th September 2013 bearing memo no 818/I-2/EDN/GTA/2011-12 with reference to office no.814/I-2/EDN/GTA/2011-12 dated 31.08.2013 by the Executive Director of Department of Education of GTA. The letter is forwarded by the DI of Schools.
The concerned staff and officers are directed to show the cause within three days as why disciplinary action should not be taken against him or her for dereliction of duty.
The letter states that as per the attendance register it was found that the staff was found absent on duty with effect from 29th July to 14th August and 19th August to 30th August without prior information. This is in violation of of the order no 1053-1SS dated 31-07-2013 of Addl Chief Secretary to the Govt of West Bengal, Home department, wherein all state government employees were required to report for duty during the bundh.
It is quite clear that the reply of the staff against the showcause will not be satisfactory to the authority which will ultimately result to deduction of salary for the absence during these 29 days.
Meanwhile, it is understood that the state government may change its stand on deduction of salary if the Gorkhaland agitation is not revived again by GJM .
A high government official has said that if GJM takes a flexible stand on its demand and agitation the government may review its decision in the matter of salary deduction during the period of the strike, a Bengali daily states.
The report published in it adds that the officer said that if life in peace is maintained by GJM and priority is given to the development of the hills, government may take steps for the release of the arrested GTA Sabha members.
