Gorkhaland seminar to be held in Dehradun

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 28 September 2013: A seminar on Gorkhaland and the demand for smaller states will be held on September 29, 2013 at Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha.
It will be organised by Darjeeling Foundation which also had organised similar seminar in Delhi last week. 
This is the first seminar to be held in Dehradun that will have renowned speakers form across different walks of life in support of the identity crisis and statehood issue Harbans Kapoor - Member of Uttarakhand Assembly, Ganesh Joshi - Member of Uttarakhand Assembly, Raj Kumar - Member of Uttarakhand Assembly, Hira Singh Bisht- Chairman INTUC, Uttarakhand, Surya Kant Dashmanya - VP, Uttarakhand Congress, Harka Bahadur Chettri - MLA Kalimpong, P Arjun - Member Study Forum of GJM , Mamata Gurung - Member Social Welfare Board and Kapil Thapa- Indian Idol runners up. 
Senior journalist Swaraj Thapa will moderate the interaction and the seminar. Ranjan Sharma Media Coordinator stated that the seminar is organised by the Darjeeling Foundation, a Delhi based think tank supported by intellectuals, academics, public figures and business leaders from Darjeeling as well as other parts of the country with the support of Gorkhali Sudhar Sabha, Dehradun. 
It is conceived as a private, not for profit body to influence public opinion and mould views of the political class as well as executive on the issue of separate state of Gorkhaland comprising Darjeeling and surrounding areas. 
The idea is to help clear misconceptions relating to Gorkhaland issue through seminars, public discussion, debate, research and publications.
