Golay no longer member of SLA.....Golay to appear soon

SNS. Gangtok, 20 September 2013: Mr Prem Singh Tamang known as Golay, the one-time rebel MLA from Sikkim Democratic Front, is no longer a member of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. 

Although the ruling SDF has not yet intimated about the resignation letter, the Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA) by issuing a notification has disqualified him as a member of the SLA. 

The notification issued today reads: “The Hon’ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly is pleased to disqualify Shri Prem Singh Tamang, Hon’ble member, Sikkim Legislative Assembly from being a member of the house under Paragraph 2 (I) (a) of the tenth schedule of the constitution of India. W.e.f from 20th September”. 

The paragraph 2 (I) (a) of the tenth schedule of the Indian Constitution reads ~ “A member of a House belonging to any political party shall be disqualified from being a member of House, if he has voluntarily given up his membership of such political party”. “The Sikkim Democratic Front communicated with the SLA through a letter for the disqualification of Golay,” said an official from SLA, requesting for anonymity. 

The SLA is said to have acted on the basis of the letter. The notification signed by the secretary, SLA, Mr D Rinchen confirms the disqualification of Golay from the Assembly. However, there has been no official communication from the SDF for receiving the quit letter from the rebel. Gangtok, 20 September.

Gangtok: The leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha will be making his appearance after a long spell of hibernation on 22 September, if sources close to him are to be believed. The rebel MLA of Upper Burtuk Constituency, Golay, who resigned from the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front recently, has been missing from the political scene since his last public visit to North District a few months back. 

Sources reveal that the party is now busy preparing for his grand welcome back. He will be welcomed by the party workers of South and West districts at Melli. A similar felicitation would be accorded to him by the supporters from North and East districts at Rangpo. 

The missing leader is supposed to be camping in New Delhi, wrapping up some party work there. According to sources, the resignation letter was sent via email and by post on 4 September from Delhi to the SDF party headquarters. A source from the party informs that he may take the membership of the SKM on 22 September.
