
2 GJMM leader held
SNS, Kurseong, 20 September: Following the arrest of a senior employee union leader belonging to the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha, Mr Satyan Bardewa from Mirik, all the business establishments have remained closed in Mirik from 4.30 p.m. today. He is the general secretary of the Janmukti Karmachari Sangathan’s Mirik unit.
Sources said he was arrested on various charges, including some non-bailable ones. However, police are yet to confirm the specific charges having been framed against him. Presently, he is being interrogated and he would be produced in court tomorrow.
The Kalimpong police today arrested Mr Bikki Subba, president of the GJMM, No. 33 Samasti Committee, Kalimpong from Novelty Line area around 4.30 p.m. It was learnt that Subba is a GJMM leader and has been arrested in the arson of a Nano vehicle on 27 August morning at 3 mile. He has booked under Section 147/148/149 435 & 427 of the IPC and Arms Act 25(i) A / 27. He will be produced in the ACJM Court Kalimpong tomorrow. So far, a total of five people have been arrested in this case.
