Election of GTA Chief executive could not be held
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 September 2013: The election of Chief Executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Authority could not be held today due to the lack of quorum.
Out of 45 elected and 5 nominated members only 4 elected member were present in the GTA Sabha called by the GTA Principal Secretary R.D.Meena.
Along with Chairman Bhupendra (Pradeep) Pradhan and Vice Chairman Lobsang Yolmo (Lama) the two members present in the meeting were P.T.Ola and Tilak chandra Roka. However, a petition signed by 29 GTA Sabha members was submitted to the Chairman by P. T.Ola which was later handed over to the Principal Secretary by the Chairman.
The petition stated that due to the arrest of the most of the GTA Sabha members they couldnot attend the Sabha. As the election of CE should be done in the presence of all the members and the election in their absence is felt by the other members as unusual and the rest of the members also abstained from attending the Sabha. The members will give their presence only if the arrested members are freed from the custody.
RD Meena said that the letter will be forwarded to the state government.
