National Teachers' Science Congress held
KalimNews, Guwahati, 5 August 2013: The Eastern Regional Orientation Workshop for 7th National Teacher’s Science Congress was held on 04 and 05 August, 2013 at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
The workshop was organised by National Council of Science &Technology communication (NCSTC) and hosted by Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha Assam.
The programme was catalysed and supported by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Pradyogiki Sanchar Parishad, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Delegate members of West Bengal |
118 Teachers, scientists and facilitator educators from 12 states namely West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Av& N Islands attended the workshop which was inaugurated by Dr. Dhruba Jyoti Saikia Vice Chancellor of Cotton College State University, Assam and chaired by Dr. Anil kumar Goswami, President of Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha.
A booklet on the NCSTC was released by Dr. Amar Jyoti Chowdhary, Pro Vice Chancellor of Tezpur Central University.
The resource persons of the workshops were Dr. R.N.Ray of Orissa, Dr. Pulin Behari Chakraborty, Kolkata, Mr. Jayanta kumar Sharma, Guwahati, Dr. Arup kumar Mishra of Assam.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Patowari coordinator of the workshop and Secretary of the Bharat Jan Vigyan Jatha gave vote of thanks.

Nirmal Maheswari Rai retired teacher of St. Teressa Girls HS School, Darjeeling, Arun Kr. Rai of Jaldhaka HS School and Dinesh Rai of Jubilee HS School Kalimpong represented Darjeeling District in the 2 days’ workshop in which 17 member delegates of the state participated.
Nirmal M Rai is the district coordinator of National Children's Science Congress while the other two teachers are trained teachers of activity based learning enhancement programme a project of Sarva Siksha Mission and through its nodal agency Science Comminucator's Forum incorporated by WB Board of Secondary Education .
The resource persons tried to highlight the aims and objectives of the NCSTC through different fields specially focussing on the theme science education for sustainable development and other sub themes.
They also tried to motivate the teacher in spreading the message of scientific temper through experiments, research and projects.
Different groups presented their projects in the workshop which was concluded with valedictory session.
NTSC has been organising such regional workshops and this was the workshop for the region 4. The next NTSC is scheduled to meet in October in which project papers of the NTSC members will be presented.
