Gorkhaland solidarity march reaches Darjeeling Hills
The solidarity march in support of Gorkhaland as initiated by Sikkim-based Gorkha organisation, Gorkha Jagran Samaj began from Jorethang, South Sikkim and reached Darjeeling on Sunday.
Members of several political parties like Sikkim Liberation Party and Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and organisations like Bharatiya Gorkha Parishangh and Sikkim Suraksha Samiti undertook the foot-march to Darjeeling via Singla border.

The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief, Mr Bimal Gurung who had met the team at his party’s headquarters at Singmari termed the march as Sikkim’s first practical and historical support for the demand for Gorkhaland.
He said Sikkim’s relation with Darjeeling is based on ties of blood, adding that such continued support from them will invest the movement with added oomph.
