Drunken father kills month-old baby

SNS, Kurseong, 17 July 2013: A 28-day-old male baby, was allegedly killed by his father at Mirik, Darjeeling last night.

A police official said that a case has been registered with Mirik police, in which, a woman, Binita Khawas, resident of Deosi Dara, filed an FIR against her husband, Shiba Chettri, accusing him for the death of their baby.

According to Ms Khawas, her husband had been torturing her regularly.

"He comes home drunk everyday and creates chaos.As usual, last night too, there had been a stir between us, and in a sudden fit, my husband picked up our baby and thrashed him on the ground."

The accused is now missing and a search is on by police. The accused is a resident of Piplibote Gram in the Tingling tea estate area in Mirik. But after their marriage, he had been staying with his in-laws.
