One killed, 12 injured in accident
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 29 May 2013: A woman was killed and 12 others were injured when a suv collided with an earth excavation vehicle near
Songachi tea estate in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday. The savari bound to Silguri from Todey of Jaldhaka police station carried passengers of Jaldhaka region. The speeding savari along the NH 31C smashed into the JCB excavator coming from Sonagachi Tea estate near Mal College. After the incident local people rescued the injured. Neeta Rai (27) a pregnant woman from Todey Busty was also brought to Mal Rural Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
In the accident eight of them are seriously injured and have been referred to North Bengal Medical College Hospital in Siliguri while four others have been admitted to Mal Rural Hospital,.
Prabir Dutt OC of Matelli Police station stated that the driver of the Savari is also seriously injured along with other passengers while the driver of the JCB excavator is absconding.
