Mamata must focus on plains not hills: Bimal ...'Granting of development boards will never add dividend to TMC vote bank'

SNS, SILIGURI,12 APRIL 2017: Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) chief and Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) president, Mr Bimal Gurung today claimed that the Trinamul Congress will not be able to win in the upcoming municipal and rural polls without the issue of Gorkhaland.
"Chief Minister thinks that granting several development boards will serve her political purpose but granting of such boards will never add dividend to TMC vote bank. Reason is that the people's sentiment of Gorkhaland, cannot be suppressed, We will win the upcoming municipal and panchayat election in the hills."
Mr Gurung also pointed out that poverty and irregularities are prime concern in the plains and therefore the CM should divert her keen interest from hills and concentrate on the plains.
"Even Mamata Banerjee won't win next Assembly elections due to her exclusively partial and vested interest in hills in the name of development. She should work towards eradication of similar problems in the plains wherein poverty is a prime concern," Gurung added.
When asked to comment in his. Delhi visit Mr Gurung informed he has raised three important credentials to hills, firstly the unheard cry of Gorkhaland following setting up of Central University and similarly the demand of tribal status for 11 communities.
Mr Gurung came here today to inaugurate Sukna Model Higher Secondary School located at Salbari, The GTA had allotted funds for the development of Ram krishna Shiksha Parishad Boys' Higher Secondary School in Darjeeling and then sanctioned funds of Rs 15 crore for the development of Sukna Model School.
The school is well equipped with facilities likewise computers, smart classes, internet connectivity.
Mr Gurung said, "The model school will definitely serve its purpose and school can be seen as one of the important development works conducted by GTA highlighting the students coming from poor families.'
