Indian National Killed and Two Injured in Attack on Saudi Arabia’s Dammam Airport
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said Saudi authorities had informed it about the casualties in the attack on Wednesday night. "One Indian national was among two people who unfortunately lost their lives in the attack on Dammam airport yesterday night and two Indian nationals were injured," the embassy said in a social media post.
The mission said it was ascertaining further details and contacting the affected families. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the deceased and we wish speedy recovery of the injured," it said.
The attack comes amid escalating drone and missile strikes targeting Saudi Arabia's airports, energy installations and other critical infrastructure, with Iran-backed Houthi rebels having been involved in a prolonged campaign against the kingdom.
India on Thursday strongly condemned the attacks, asserting that strikes targeting civilian and critical infrastructure are "completely unacceptable" and must cease immediately.
"We strongly condemn the continued attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including the attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province on October 21," it said.
"These attacks have unfortunately resulted in civilian deaths and injuries," the Ministry of External Affairs stated.
