West Bengal Increases Cashless Treatment Limit to Rs 5 Lakh Under Health Scheme

MP, Sept 18, 2026, Kolkata: Ahead of Durga Puja, there is good news for the state government employees and pensioners as the financial limit for cashless in-patient treatment in private listed hospitals under the West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS) has been increased to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 2 lakh.

The Finance Department’s medical cell on Thursday issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notification, the new limit of Rs 5 lakh will be effective for patients admitted to private listed hospitals on or after October 1, 2026.

The permissible rates for various treatments under the West Bengal Health Scheme have been revised recently. In view of that revision, it has been decided to increase the current limit for cashless treatment, the notification said.

All government employees and pensioners covered under WBHS and their eligible dependents/beneficiaries will be able to avail the benefits on or after October 1. However, other terms and conditions of the health scheme will remain unchanged.

As per the new guidelines, cashless treatment facility up to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh will be available for a single admission to any hospital. The old guidelines and memorandums will be deemed to have been revised to align with the new limit.
