Computer teachers oppose fresh e-tendering for 2,000 schools

PTI, September 28, 2026, Kolkata : Computer teachers engaged under the ICT@School Project have opposed fresh e-tendering for 2,000 schools, seeking recognition of their experience and continuation of their engagement.
The School Education Department said Phase VI, which began in October 2021, will end in September 2026 and directed fresh tendering.
The department proposed retaining existing project manpower, including ICT coordinators, under the new vendor.
Around 1,400 teachers have received letters stating that their contracts will end on September 30 and will not be renewed.
The teachers have demanded recognition of their five years’ experience and direct contractual engagement with the government, and will hold a programme at Bikash Bhavan on Monday.
