BJP Workers Protest Outside Entally Police Station After Clash Between Two Factions

MP, August 17, 2026, Kolkata : High drama unfolded outside Entally police station on Saturday after a group of BJP workers allegedly locked the main gate of the police station, disrupting operations for several hours.

Though police claimed that the gate was not locked for four hours, the authorities acknowledged that such an incident had taken place for a certain period.

A senior Kolkata Police official confirmed that a case has been registered in this regard and an investigation has been initiated.

The unprecedented siege followed a violent internal clash between two BJP groups during an Independence Day programme organised by one of the factions in the Baishali area.

According to sources, the tension began during the celebration on Saturday.

The gathering soon turned into a heated altercation and subsequent scuffle between two groups of local party workers, allegedly led by two prominent BJP leaders, Dilip Kumar Ram and Priyanka Tibrewal.

The group that organised the programme, led by Ram, alleged that Tibrewal and her supporters suddenly arrived at the venue and attacked them following an altercation.

Following the incident, the agitated faction reached Entally police station demanding immediate police intervention.

Alleging that the local police were reluctant to act, the demonstrators staged a sit-in protest outside the premises.

The situation escalated when the protesters allegedly surrounded the police station and locked its main gate, preventing police personnel from leaving and citizens from entering the building.

Normal administrative and law-enforcement activities were disrupted as the crowd raised slogans against the local police administration.

The lock was eventually opened after senior officials from the Kolkata Police Eastern Suburban Division arrived at the spot with reinforcements.

Following negotiations and assurances of an impartial investigation into the clash, the protesters withdrew their sit-in.

Later, police registered a case in connection with the incident, alleging illegal confinement and disruption of public service.
