Amit Shah, Suvendu Adhikari to inaugurate law exhibition in Siliguri

Sanchita Aich Bag, MP, August 20, 2026, Siliguri: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will inaugurate the ‘Law Exhibition’ organised by the Union government at Kawakhali ground on August 21.

The exhibition will remain open to the general public from August 22 to August 26.

According to sources, Amit Shah is scheduled to land at Bagdogra Airport on August 20 at around 7.30 pm and stay overnight at Mayfair Resort.

On August 21, he will visit the SSB Frontier Headquarters in Siliguri, where he will attend meetings and foundation stone-laying and groundbreaking ceremonies. He is likely to reach the exhibition venue at around 3 pm.

Later, he is scheduled to attend two closed-door review meetings at the hotel where he will stay for the night.

On August 22, the Home Minister is expected to hold two more closed-door meetings at the same hotel before returning to New Delhi at around 2.30 pm from Bagdogra Airport.

Ahead of the event, West Bengal Director General of Police Siddh Nath Gupta, ADG Manoj Verma, who is part of the Chief Minister’s security team and Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza visited the site.

The officials inspected the entry and exit routes, security arrangements and other infrastructure.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness regarding the three new criminal laws— Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA).

The Union government plans to organise similar exhibitions across the country as a section of the public remains unfamiliar with the provisions of the new laws.

The exhibition will explain the new legal framework through interactive displays, helping visitors understand how the laws work in practice.

School and college students from Siliguri and neighbouring areas, along with the general public, have been invited to attend.

“This exhibition is being organised for the benefit of the general public so that they can learn in detail about the three new laws. I invite people from across North Bengal and school students to visit the exhibition. In addition, quiz competitions and other programmes will also be organised here,” the DG said.
