West Bengal Increases Monthly Social Welfare Pension to Rs 1,500

MP, July 21, 2026, Kolkata : The West Bengal government has increased the monthly financial assistance for beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and various state social welfare pension schemes from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the social security net.

The news was shared by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari through a social media post.

Adhikari stated that the decision was taken in line with its promise to fulfil the expectations of the people who had voted for a nationalist government.

"With the enhancement, senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities covered under these schemes will receive greater financial support, aimed at improving their quality of life. The revised pension amount will come into effect from August 2026," posted Adhikari.

Beginning September 1, the enhanced monthly pension will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to ensure complete transparency.

The Chief Minister reiterated that his government remains committed to expanding social welfare, strengthening social security and improving the standard of living of the people of the state.

Adhikari also attached an order issued by the state Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department in support of his post.
