Newlywed Woman Alleges Husband Pushed Her Down Hotel Stairs During Darjeeling Honeymoon; FIR Registered in Noida

KalimNews, June 6, 2026, Kalimpong: A 27-year-old newlywed woman from Noida has accused her husband of subjecting her to repeated physical abuse and criminal intimidation soon after their marriage, including allegedly pushing her down a flight of stairs at a hotel in Darjeeling during their honeymoon. Following her complaint and medical examination, the Noida Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the allegations.

According to the complaint, the couple were married on April 30, 2026. The woman alleged that the abuse began the very next day after the wedding, when her husband, Harvinder Chauhan, who had moved into her home in Noida after their marriage, started physically assaulting and verbally abusing her on a regular basis.

In her statement to the police, she alleged that she was beaten and verbally abused almost every day from the beginning of the marriage.

The couple left for their honeymoon to Sikkim and Darjeeling on May 4. However, the woman claimed that the alleged abuse continued throughout the trip.

She alleged that on May 9, while they were staying at a hotel in Darjeeling, her husband pushed her down a staircase, causing serious injuries to her head, back and both knees. She further claimed that he threatened to kill her during the incident.

According to the complaint, the violence did not end after they returned to Noida on May 10. The woman alleged that when she informed her husband that she intended to approach the police, he became violent again. She claimed that he threw her mobile phone to the ground, kicked her in the stomach, punched and slapped her, and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the police.

She further alleged that after the incident, her husband left the house and returned to his parents' residence in Delhi.

Following a medico-legal examination (MLC), the woman lodged an FIR at the Sector-113 Police Station in Noida on May 28. Police have registered a case against the accused husband under the relevant provisions of law.

Police officials said that an impartial investigation is underway and that further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the course of the investigation. The inquiry will examine the woman's complaint, medical records and other available evidence before appropriate action is initiated.

The accused has not made any public statement regarding the allegations at the time of publication.
