Jharkhand Man Arrested for Allegedly Plotting Father's Murder to Secure Compassionate Job
According to Dhanbad Rural Superintendent of Police S. Mohammed Yakub, the victim, Tuleshwar Nonia, was a coal worker at a BCCL colliery in Barora and had only two years of service remaining before retirement. Investigators alleged that his son, Vijay Chauhan, wanted to secure employment under the company's compassionate appointment policy following his father's death and therefore hatched a plan to eliminate him.
Police said Chauhan allegedly conspired with Amit Singh and Akhilesh Mallah, both residents of Badaura Colony under the Barora police station area. Investigators claimed that Chauhan promised the two men ₹10 lakh to execute the murder, although no advance payment had been made before the crime.
To divert suspicion, Chauhan reportedly created an alibi by informing his father that he was travelling to Aurangabad in Bihar to attend a relative's wedding. He left home on the morning of June 19, while, according to the police investigation, the two accused waited to execute their plan.
After Nonia completed his work shift that night, Singh and Mallah allegedly offered him a lift on their motorcycle. Instead of taking him home, they reportedly drove him to a secluded location, where they killed him by repeatedly striking him with a large stone.
Police further alleged that the accused deliberately disfigured the victim's face in an attempt to destroy evidence and prevent identification. They then dragged the body onto the main road to make the murder appear to be the result of a road accident.
The investigation gained momentum after police examined CCTV footage from the BCCL surveillance system at the AMP Colliery. The footage reportedly showed Nonia riding on the same motorcycle with Singh and Mallah shortly before his death. Acting on this crucial evidence, investigators detained both men and subjected them to sustained interrogation, during which they allegedly revealed the details of the conspiracy, ultimately leading to Chauhan's arrest.
Police records also indicate that Akhilesh Mallah has a criminal background and had previously been imprisoned in connection with coal and diesel theft cases registered at Madhuban police station.
The investigation into the case is continuing.
