BJP MLA Leads Inspection of Ex-TMC MLA’s Office; Relief Materials Recovered in Rajarhat-Gopalpur

MP, June 12, 2026, Kolkata : High political drama unfolded in Baguiati under the Rajarhat-Gopalpur Assembly Constituency on Thursday after newly elected BJP MLA Tarunjyoti Tewari led an inspection of the locked TMC party office of former MLA Aditi Munshi, where a large quantity of government-supplied relief materials was allegedly found.

The incident took place near the 44 Bus Stand in Baguiati amid a heavy police presence.

According to sources, the main door of the party office, which was locked, was opened after being broken with a hammer.

Inside, a large stockpile of relief items, including hundreds of tarpaulins, sarees, women’s garments, umbrellas and election-related documents, was found.

Speaking to reporters at the spot, Tewari alleged that the materials had been sent by the government for poor and vulnerable people but were being stored inside the former MLA’s party office.

Tension escalated during a simultaneous inspection of a nearby office belonging to Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation Ward No. 18 councillor Indranath Bagui, who is considered close to the TMC leadership and is the husband of Aditi Munshi.

During the search, several sharp weapons and sticks were allegedly recovered.

Tewari claimed that the weapons had been stockpiled to attack BJP workers had the TMC won the election.

Police from Baguiati Police Station later seized the materials and objects recovered from the two offices.

The development comes amid similar recoveries of relief materials from the offices and residences of several TMC leaders across the state in recent weeks, including former minister Ujjwal Biswas and Baduria Municipality chairman Dipankar Bhattacharya, among others.
