Sikkim Leaders Congratulate Madhu Mala Gurung on National Florence Nightingale Award

PTI, May 12, 2026, Gangtok : Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday congratulated Madhu Mala Gurung, a senior Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) of Pakyong district, on being conferred with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award 2026, an official statement said.

The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Gurung was honoured in recognition of her exemplary contribution, nursing excellence and dedicated service in the healthcare sector over the years. Her achievement has brought pride to the entire state, the statement said.

The Governor said that Gurung’s achievement is a moment of pride for the whole Sikkim state.

Congratulating her on the recognition, the Chief Minister lauded her commitment and selfless service towards society and wished her continued success in the healthcare field.

The National Florence Nightingale Award is among the country’s highest honours for nursing professionals and recognises exceptional dedication and service in healthcare.
