Don’t worry, government teams will help fill the Annapurna form: CM

MP, May 31, 2026, Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday assured beneficiaries that state government representatives would visit every household to help fill out the Annapurna Yojana application forms, making it clear that there should be no concern regarding filling the forms. Speaking at a cervical cancer vaccination programme at Bidhannagar Sub Divisional Hospital, the Chief Minister said there was no need to pay attention to rumours regarding the scheme and reiterated that all eligible beneficiaries would receive the financial assistance.

The BJP had promised to provide financial support of Rs 3,000 per month to women in West Bengal under the Annapurna Yojana and released the application form for the scheme on Wednesday. However, the 11-page form has drawn criticism from some quarters for being lengthy and requiring extensive documentation, including land records and banking details of family members. Many applicants have expressed concerns that the process is more complicated than the previous Lakshmir Bhandar scheme and fear that accessing benefits would not be as straightforward.

Addressing these concerns, Adhikari said: “On Wednesday, we will transfer the first phase of Annapurna Yojana funds to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Government representatives will visit every household to assist in form-filling. They will help complete the forms. Do not pay attention to any rumours.”

He further stated that the government wants only genuine beneficiaries to receive the funds. “We will ensure that no ineligible person, including non-citizens or men, receives this benefit,” he said. The Chief Minister noted that Annapurna Yojana was one of the key promises made in the party’s “Sankalpa Patra”, and the implementation of the scheme was part of that commitment.

Under the scheme, women aged 25 to 60 are eligible for the benefit. However, individuals who pay income tax, hold government jobs, or receive regular salaries or pensions are not eligible.
