Doctor Arrested for Allegedly Filming Near Hasimara Air Force Station

MP, May 28, 2026, Alipurduar: A man was allegedly caught photographing and recording videos near the highly restricted defence installation area around Hasimara Air Force Station on Tuesday night.
The accused, identified as Manab Chanda, is a resident of Tufanganj in neighbouring Cooch Behar district.
According to sources, Air Force personnel on duty noticed him using a mobile phone to capture images and videos outside the airbase premises on Tuesday evening. He was immediately detained and later handed over to police.
Police sources said three mobile phones were recovered from the accused.
During interrogation, Chanda reportedly produced an MBBS identity card and claimed to be a private medical practitioner.
The accused was produced before the Alipurduar District Court on Wednesday and was remanded to 10 days of police custody.
