Cruise ship affected by hantavirus outbreak arrives at Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands


PTI, May 10, 2026, Tenerife (Spain) : A cruise ship affected by a hantavirus outbreak, carrying more than 140 people on board, arrived at Tenerife, the largest of Spain's Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa, where passengers and some crew members are set to disembark.

The World Health Organisation, Spanish authorities, and cruise company Oceanwide Expeditions said that nobody currently on board the MV Hondius is showing symptoms of the virus.
