Bengal set to get full-fledged ministry; oath on June 1

MP | 30 May 2026 | Kolkata : West Bengal is set to get a full-fledged BJP ministry on Monday, June 1, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Lok Bhavan at 11 am. Governor R.N. Ravi will administer the oath of office.

According to sources in the state administration, the list of new ministers has been finalised after multiple rounds of discussions on portfolio allocation and political balancing.

BJP insiders said the central leadership in Delhi has approved the final allocation of portfolios. The expansion is expected to include a mix of young and experienced leaders, balancing governance and organisational needs.

Special emphasis has reportedly been placed on representation from North Bengal, Junglemahal, and urban regions.

From Kolkata and adjoining areas, several BJP legislators are likely to be inducted into the ministry. Probable names include Tapas Roy (Maniktala), Sharadwat Mukhopadhyay (Bidhannagar), Swapan Dasgupta (Rashbehari), Sajal Ghosh (Baranagar), and Indranil Khan (Behala West).

Actor-turned-MLAs Roopa Ganguly and Rudranil Ghosh are also considered strong contenders. Sankar Ghosh (Siliguri) and Jagannath Chattopadhyay (Suri) are also in contention.

Suvendu Adhikari took oath as Chief Minister at Brigade Parade Ground on May 9. Along with him, Agnimitra Paul, Dilip Ghosh, Nisith Pramanik, Khudiram Tudu and Ashok Kirtania were sworn in as ministers in the initial Cabinet.
