Kapur paid a courtesy call on Khanal at the Foreign Ministry, Singhadurbar, on Tuesday and expressed confidence that the historical relations between Nepal and the US will further consolidate in the coming days, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two leaders discussed further strengthening of Nepal-US relations and explored possible areas of partnership between the two countries to boost trade and investment, it said.
Khanal informed the visiting US Assistant Secretary of State that good governance and the construction of quality infrastructure are priorities of the current government.
The government is focusing on legal reforms and simplification of rules and regulations to create a conducive environment for investment and economic reforms, he said at the meeting.
Khanal said that Nepal is seeking large investment from US investors as well as non-resident Nepalis in the tourism, clean energy and information technology sectors.
Kapur expressed confidence that the historical relations existing between Nepal and the US will further consolidate in the days to come.
The US President and the American people are watching positively and closely the reform programmes being implemented by the government formed through peaceful elections, he said.
Kapur asserted that both countries can benefit from successful trade relations and partnership with organisations such as the US International Development Finance Corporation.
